BIOGRAPHY

Ayla Loon is the alias of Ayla Stabile, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter based in Oregon. Though raised in suburban Virginia, their music took shape as a teenager in western Massachusetts, where they found inspiration in keyboards, field recordings, woods wandering, and spontaneous bedroom recording. Atmospheric instrumentals and intimate lo-fi songs culminated in numerous collections as Unstabile.

With more clarity and a sense of redefinition, they reemerged as Ayla Loon in 2022 to release Cobbler, a swirling sixteen-track album mixed after a cross-country move, showcasing their finest work to date. Crosscurrent came as a surprise follow-up– their first release with Funnybone Records– and continues the phantom threads lacing silky cloaks of synth and vocal layering. Ayla’s technicolor headspace is one to daydream in.

In early summer of 2024, Ayla released Under Ice. Recorded in their Portland bedroom, this capsule of songs and instrumentals finds stillness in a northwest winter. The album’s misty atmospheres pulse like water flowing below a sheet of cracking ice. Dreamy synths, ambient beats, and hushed vocals mesh in motion and float thru open space.
