The Tines

BIOGRAPHY
The Tines are a New Haven based outfit helmed by songwriter and producer S.G. Carlson. The band was formed as a recording project in late 2019 featuring Ilya Gitelman, Sean Koravo, and J Thompson. Chris Mala joined in 2023. They play cleverly crafted indie rock that focuses on the balance of tension and beauty.
The Tines released their first E.P., The Enemy Is Listening (Free As Birds Records) in 2020, and began to perform live in 2021. They have since appeared at the New Haven Arts and Ideas Festival, The Thing In Spring, and Limb Snapping, and played with artists like Daniel Romano, The Huntress and Holder of Hands, Lee Ronaldo, Acid Dad, and The Futurebirds.
Since the release of their self-titled debut album via Funnybone Records, The Tines have shared a steady stream of widely received singles, including “Slow Wave” & “A Thousand Points”.
As a solo artist, S.G. Carlson has appeared with the likes of Andy Shauf, Michael Nau, Erin Durant, and Shaun Rowe.
